The thing is I really suck at using tedit. I tried to use it to insert rass and flowers and trees and shit. It went horribly wrong.

Don't be turned off by using Tedit even to make the whole dang map. People don't care how you make something, they only care about the results. Tedit is infinately faster than doing it by hand. In most cases the world will look alot nicer this way.

It starts at night, yes, but by the time one is out of the house, 10 zombies have spawned and all you have is a copper shortsword, which is utter crap against everything.

I couldn't even get into the elder temple. Demon Eyes and Zombies killed me halfway up the ladder. This map, for me, is thoroughly unpleasant. I decided to bring in my top-tier just to be able to play it.

Most of that' I can't argue with. The design issue for me is I build in game, the spectacular designs will all mostly be seen from Tedit. I can't add grass, flowers, trees or any of that. The dialogue is mostly short because I was trying to not take 2 years to make this map. But I defenetely see what you're saying. Also I don't really see why people think the beginning is so hard. The game starts at night where there is no vultures, it is really just strategy trying to get there. I would take your advices if I had gotten them early, but by this point I'm really working on new types of maps, not at all like this. Except of course for bug fixes. Speaking of which, I just added in a new one.

basically what im trying to say, is that immersion is key in these kind of maps. and your immersion, really isnt good.

also, please make more villagers with a complex dialog. for instance, instead of "could you carry this boulder to my home?" you could say "oh hello terrence! oh i need to carry this big rock back to my home, but a vulture just crashed into my back and its killing me! would you be so kind as to deliver it to my home?" (mini quest, return the boulder back to the old lady's home) when the quest is complete "oh thank you terrence! while you did that for me, i went to the town clinic and one of the doctors fixed my back so im all better now! oh please, do take this reward! (mini quest completed) and even that pizza guy, instead of that blatant, generic line he could say " oh please a terrence, help a me! i a was walking around the town, and a vulture a swooped down and took my hat, then he a flew down the town well. please terrence, please a help a me! everyone knows i cant a cook the pizza without my hat!" (mini quest, rescue pizza pete's hat from the town well.) these are just a couple small things, but when it comes down to it, the small things really, REALLY matter in a story driven map.

ok here are my suggestions: the beginning is way too hard. i had to go to my other world to craft an iron sword just to get through the vulctures and slimes. please include an iron sword in the barrels in the basement of the room. second, there is very little introduction in the beginning. you are just told "hey, bring this soup to your dad." here is an example for when you start, you can use it if you want: "you wake up from your deep slumber to find your mom calling for you. you check your pocket watch. "6:30 in the morning?" you groan. well no use having her wait." (this is the sign next to the mom now) "Terrence? oh Terrence there there you are! im so sorry but i forgot to give your father his morning soup! im so busy cleaning the house i cant go deliver it! would you please be a dear and go deliver it? dont worry it isnt far, just to the elder temple. he went early today to seek audience, oh but i dont think he will beat the others to them. also, ive noticed quite a bit more of those pesky vulctures, so please grab your father's old iron sword from the basement? last thing i need is for you to come home battered and bruised...(quest, deliver the soup to your father at the elders temple" this makes the environment much more immersive and beleivable, instead of a blantant statement. also, the art design in the town is very bland and forgetable. if you want a really good example of a singleplayer story driven terraria map, play "the ancient spirits of light and darkness." this map literally has the mark of a game i would pay for. what i did like was the story though. so all in all, your story is good so far, but your art, immersion, and gameplay needs to be spruced up.
